James Mannon Vess killed John Jenkins on May 10, 1907.
He was put on trial with Ben Hoooper Sr. as his lawer. The judge
was G. McHenderson. One of the officers was G.L. Gruidstaff, a
deputy sheriff of Cocke Co. TN He was convicted of murder on
Monday, Sept. 23, 1907.
He was later put in a State Hospital for safe keeping. The
hospital
was Lyon's View in Knoxville, (now called Lake Shore) he went
into the hospital Feb. 6, 1908 and he died there Dec. 8, 1928.
He was buried there, behind the Veteran's Cemetery[Re: George
