I think I got this from one of the HOWARDS (connected to the
SHULTSs) of
Sevier Co. Or, it may have come from Bill Matthews of North
Carolina.
Anyway, this material quotes as a reference (?) a genealogy
chart in Stokely Memorial
Library in Newport, prepared (?) by a Mrs. Melvin Watson of
Newport. It lists James as
born ca 1793 in Georgia and has his PARENTS as - William Baxter
and Rachel Bayne. It
lists William's parents as - Edward Baxter and Eva Barth.
The parents of both James and Rhoda are listed this same way
again in a sheet supposedly
attributed to Rev. Herman Matthews.
