In the 1860 Census, Mary Vess was head of household.
Geo and Mary were married on Jan 9, 1857 by J.F Fincher, JP.
The bondsman was Jojn Stamy and the witness was Wm. M. Rhea,
clerk.
On the 1860-1870 Census, it shows that a George William Vest
married to Mary, had 4 children.
Robert 10, Margaret 7, Emiline 6, Mannon 5 1/2, and Rachel 2.
It also had Susan, age 90 as WilliamÕs Grandmother living with
them. She was from NC.
[Robert 10, Margaret 7, Emiline 6, were from her previous
marriage to Williams Allison]
Mary Williams Allson Vess bought and sold quite a lot of land.
One section of property was sold to James Mannon. At one time
she owned from ÒWhite RockÓ in the Somky Mountains, down to
Trail Hollow, Cosby, TN. This section was called Vess Cove.
There was about 50-100 acres at different times.
