Notes for Uriah HEMBREE


Mirl Baxter Haun found the head stone of Uriah in the McMillen
Cemetery about 1960/65 and mad a rubbing of it.

Uriah lived on 26 mile Creek, Anderson Co., SC. (1833 Edward,
Uriah and Polly were neighbors)
Dolly, which Uriah's wife Elizabeth was known as, witnessed a
mortgage Uriah to Wm Murray March 6, 1837. Bk U-V 1833/38 SC.
Grandtor Index Pickens Co., SC. B1, pg 73 dated 1830, B1, pg 352
dated 1833, D1, pg 81 dated 1838, D1, pg 87, dated 1839 and Y pg
367 dated 1855.
(1337 acres on Slalda River) Martin Creek and Changa Creek Nov.
24, 1836 Bk Y pg 152, Anderson Co., SC., Uriah sold to David
Russel, 146 acres on Generostee Creek, (Granted to Wm Murray,
Nov. 5,1833)Witn: May 15, 1844. Uriah signed Deed.

The above deeds confirm the census data that shows Uriah moved
from Martina Creek area of SC., to Cocke Co., TN between
1860/70. He probably died sometime after the 1870 census
